Release Notes:
Author Elliot Rosenstein has packed years of practice and education into
3 hours of video content, organized into nine segments. From the first section
discussing edge loops and polygonal topology best practices, to the last
section covering refinement of the human form, Elliot delivers a fast paced,
easy to understand learning experience.
Mesmer Press's unique time-lapse editing takes you on a journey with Elliot
as he constructs an entire human character, speeding up and slowing down to
show you the details you need to give the most attention.
Mr. Rosenstein pays particular attention to properly articulating limbs and
joints for accurate, easy character animation and envelope weighting, as well
as good clean polygon modeling for easy functional subdivision surface
refinement. Different strategies for connecting edge loops, patterns of polygon
connections, working with poles and subdivision types are discussed in detail.
Each portion of the human form, eyes, noses, mouths, arms, legs, elbows and
knees, hands and feet are covered in detail with practical on-screen examples.
"Whether you model in a cartoony style or more realistic one, it is all rooted
in our intuitive understanding of how humans look and move," Says Elliot.
"I wanted to create a DVD that would take the student from basic polygon
shapes through edge loops to modeling a realistic human form. All the steps
anticipate how the polygon mesh will deform on a character rig for smooth
animation. Additionally, this organized approach to the polygon geometry, makes
unwrapping the model for textures much simpler. Enjoy.
